Roel van Woundenberg
Roel van Woudenberg studied physics at the University of Groningen and obtained his PhD in physics from the University of Amsterdam in 1995. Roel worked as research scientist and system architect at Philips Research (optical recording, display systems/ image processing), Philips Semiconductors and Philips Lighting for over 11 years. In 2007, he switched career to become a Dutch and European patent attorney. Roel started working at DeltaPatents in 2011 where he combines patent attorney work (drafting, prosecution, consultancy) with tutoring. In autumn 2024, Roel took a position as in-house Head of IP at BDR Thermea Group B.V. (Apeldoorn, the Netherlands). From 2011-2024, Roel was a tutor with DeltaPatents in courses on the European Patent Convention and the Patent Cooperation Treaty, extending from basic and advanced patent law (substantive and procedural law; EPC and PCT) to methodology courses preparing candidates for Foundation paper F (as well as its predecessor, the Pre-Exam) and Paper D of the EQE. Roel tutored those courses in the Netherlands as well as throughout Europe, on-site and online. Roel was the coordinating tutor for DeltaPatents’ Foundation paper F and Paper D training and also the coordinator of the popular DeltaPatents’ EQE Blogs. Roel is a member of the epi Council since 2020, the European Patent Practice Committee (EPPC) of epi since 2023, EPPC’s Technical Group Information and Communication Technologies since 2023 and EPPC’s Working Group on Guidelines since 2020 as well as, since 2024, the SACEPO Working Party on Guidelines. |
Cees Mulder
Cees Mulder studied physics and chemistry at the University of Utrecht. After completing his PhD in physics at the University of Leiden (1982), Cees joined Philips Electronics, first as a researcher at the Philips Research Laboratory. After joining the Philips Patent Department, Cees qualified as a Dutch patent attorney in 1997 and as a European patent attorney in 1999. In the period 2001-2009, he was one of the founding partners of DeltaPatents. Cees is a senior lecturer in many courses on the European Patent Convention, the Patent Cooperation Treaty, the Paris Convention and the Patent Law Treaty. Since 1999, Cees has been a tutor at the Centre d’Études Internationales de la Propriété Intellectuelle (CEIPI) for the University of Strasbourg. In addition, he is a frequent speaker at seminars organized jointly by the Institute of Professional Representatives before the European Patent Office (epi) and the European Patent Office. From 2009-2021, Cees was a lecturer of industrial property law at the Faculty of Law of Maastricht University. In 2017, Cees was appointed professor of European Patent Law in a Global Context. From 2014-2021, Cees was a tutor in methodology courses for patent attorney trainees preparing for the EQE at Maastricht University. |
