Roel van Woundenberg
Roel van Woudenberg studied physics at the University of Groningen and obtained his PhD in physics from the University of Amsterdam in 1995. Roel worked as research scientist and system architect at Philips Research (optical recording, display systems/ image processing), Philips Semiconductors and Philips Lighting for over 11 years. In 2007, he switched career to become a Dutch and European patent attorney. Roel started working at DeltaPatents in 2011 where he combined patent attorney work (drafting, prosecution, consultancy) with tutoring. In autumn 2024, Roel took a position as in-house Head of IP at BDR Thermea Group B.V. (Apeldoorn, the Netherlands). Since 2011, Roel has been a tutor with DeltaPatents in courses on the European Patent Convention and the Patent Cooperation Treaty, extending from basic and advanced patent law (substantive and procedural law; EPC and PCT) to methodology courses preparing candidates for the Foundation paper F and the M2 and M4 papers. Roel tutored those courses in the Netherlands as well as throughout Europe, on-site and online. Since 2023, Roel has been a member of the European Patent Practice Committee (EPPC) of epi, since 2020 of EPPC’s Working Group on Guidelines and, since 2024 of the SACEPO Working Party on Guidelines. |
Cees Mulder
Cees Mulder studied physics and chemistry at the University of Utrecht. After completing his PhD in physics at the University of Leiden (1982), Cees joined Philips Electronics, initially at the Philips Research Laboratory and then at the Philips Patent department. From 1997-2020, he was a Dutch patent attorney and from 1999-2025 he was a European patent attorney. Cees was a founding partner of DeltaPatents, where he worked from 2001-2009. Cees is a senior lecturer in many courses on the European Patent Convention, the Patent Cooperation Treaty, the Paris Convention and the Patent Law Treaty. From 1999-2026, Cees was a tutor at the Centre d’Études Internationales de la Propriété Intellectuelle (CEIPI) for the University of Strasbourg. From 2012-2023, he was a speaker in seminars organized jointly by the European Patent Institute (epi) and the European Patent Office (EPO). In the period 2009-2021, Cees was a lecturer of industrial property law at the Faculty of Law of Maastricht University. In 2017, Cees was appointed professor of European Patent Law in a Global Context. From 2014-2021, Cees was a tutor in methodology courses for patent attorney trainees preparing for the EQE at Maastricht University. |
